Week 3 – May 16th For those of you who are wondering, this computer thing is new to Ranger Bob, who is exploring his options on things such as type size, font, borders and other such arousing concepts. Please bear with him while he indulges himself! The new juggernaut named Bloomington (give me a team name please !!!) remains unbeaten after a lackadaisical effort against over-the-hill-trying-to-regain-the-lost-glory Kickers Old –Stars, in a 1-1 match that was accentuated by absolutely nothing of interest to you die-hard Ancient Rangers fans. Defending champion Canes made their emphatic request for a little respect with their 2-1 victory over Mike McCormack’s million dollar dream team, Kickers-too. Rnagers2 were suckered into a false sense of security by White Bears’ “we always start with seven guys” marketing ploy, and were unable to recover in time to avoid a last second 8-3 defeat. Everybody’s favorite opponent Ancient Rangers, wasted barely 90 seconds before putting a smile on the face of odds-on favorite Silverbacks, enroute to a 6-0 debacle that shall forever be remembered as the game in which they reached new heights as a gracious host, by not even bothering themselves to take a shot a net. New star Mexican forward, Vidal “baby you can drive my car” Cordoba scored the lone goal for the venerable ones, but graciously accepted the pursuant off-sides call on the grounds that “refs are human too! What a guy! A Ranger in every sense of the word! The league standings are now (though not official) as follows: GF GA Bloomington-we really-need-a-name 2-0-1 6 4 White Bear when-can-we-be-Rangers 2-0-1 19 7 Rangers2 2-1-0 12 11 Canes 2-1-0 4 3 Silverbacks 1-1-1- 8 5 Kickers-too 1-2-0 7 6 Kickers Old Stars 0-2-1 2 6 Ancient Rangers 0-3-0 3 19 A final reminder, the 9th Annual Ancient Rangers Old-timers tourney is scheduled for September 15th and 16th.
