Week 5 May 30th

Week 5 brought more dreary news for loyal fans of the Ancient Rangers. Playing without stalwart goaltender, Dave Doyle, the revered ones took a 13-1 thrashing at the hands of an unconvincing Kickers Old-stars team that should’ve scored 30. Were it not for the insistence by Graham of London on shooting every time he touched the ball, the outcome would certainly have been worse the Red Rangers. First half goaltender Ranger Bob approached his half-time beer with an unusually subdued manner. Alas, second-half keeper Dr. John could fare no better in net, as the Kickers simply had too much on this evening.

In other action around the league, Kickers-too defeated Rangers2, 4-2 thanks to the brilliant efforts of ex-Ranger striker-turned-goalkeeper Rusty Blackstead.

League-leading newcomers Bloomington flexed their muscle in an 8-2 victory over fading pre-season favorite Silverbacks.

In the final game of the evening, title-holding Canes weathered the furious offense of White Bear en-route to a 6-3 victory that kept them within 1 point of leaders Bloomington.

The unofficial standings are as follows:

Bloomington        4-0-1 9 pts

Canes              4-1-0 8 pts

Kickers2           3-2-0 6 pts

White Bear         2-2-1 5 pts

Kickers Old-Stars  2-2-1 5 pts

Rangers2           2-3-0 4 pts

Silverbacks        1-3-1 3 pts

Ancient Rangers    0-5-0 0 pts
